Be gentle with yourself. Sometimes darker thoughts roost for a day or too. Sometimes fuzzy Saturday afternoons won’t lift. Sometimes lies about unworthiness are on loop.
Be gentle with them. When they don’t understand. When their feelings boil over. When they voice the same struggle from 2010.
Be gentle with them. Sometimes you are in fact the wrong one. Sometimes you are difficult to love too. Sometimes you are stingy with grace.
And remember that it is okay to ask for greater doses of gentle care. And to stand up when someone steps on the gentleness that you’ve carefully cultivated. And to wait for the person, who can’t imagine treating you any other way.
